Film Academy

CSA & AWP have teamed up to make Film Academy available to more actors!CSA + AWP = teamwork

CSA’s Film Academy, founded in 2006, can help YOU make your dreams reality.  We specialize in helping actors develop strong, dependable, healthy & lasting relationships while teaching them to inject their own unique personality into their work.  We foster independence, confidence, self-awareness and the ability to be a responsible risk-taker while developing your craft.

Serious film actors of all ages are encouraged to come learn script analysis, character breakdown, audition techniques, improv, business skills, industry etiquette, get professional on-set experience & more in 31 sessions held a fun and safe environment.

Actors with CSA Bags and Hollywood StarIf you can read, and you want to be an actor, it is never too early or too late to follow your dreams and live the life you want to live.  Join the CSA family and form a team with a mentor & classmates who will support you all along the way.  Come to CSA (Creative Studios of Atlanta) or AWP (Atlanta Workshop Players) & meet Mr. Ken, the man who specializes in training kids & believes the student will find their teacher.

Mr. Ken will help you nurture your unique acting talent into a viable, marketable product. He will give you the tools you need to fill up your actors tool kit & get to work. Be ready to sample the buffet of techniques offered and find out what works for you.

You can choose to learn in the way that is best for you: select from private coaching sessions, the CSA Film Academy (by audition only), specialty classes and/or workshops.

While many of our students go on to become working actors, since we work predominantly with kids, we know that not everyone who trains with us will continue to act their whole life since passions can change as we grow, so our students will learn life skills they can apply to any field they choose to go into with a focus on acting. Mr Ken does not tell actors what they should or should not do; instead he helps them discover what they are capable of.  Come meet Mr. Ken & see how teamwork can help you make your dreams work.

Email Mr. Ken using the form below to get more info, receive a phone call, set up an audition time at CSA.  You can download & complete an application using the links below.

All auditions are by appointment, and you should bring a completed application with you.

Ken Feinberg (Mr. Ken) believes it takes teamwork to make a dream work.  He has developed an elite & highly successful program for individuals who are serious about learning the craft and going to work while being nurtured in the acting home he & his wife Heather have created.

Mr. Ken explains that his acting programs are for actors of all experience levels.  They give aspiring actors the professional skills they need to be prepared for a real career in the film acting industry and give working actors an extra edge.

Mr. Ken mentors all actors who are accepted into his program for 10 months (31 sessions), and is also available to his acting family long after his actors leave the classroom.

In addition to advising his actors, Mr. Ken leads a business seminar for the parents and spouses of Film Academy actors to give them an idea of what to anticipate in the industry (actors are welcome to attend).  This gives parents and spouses with an opportunity to be good teammates who can be ready to give support to their loved ones and help make sure they have all the skills needed to go to work.

Ages 8-Adult – Film Academy Companies

The CSA Film Academy is a highly selective 31-session intensive program for actors who want to hone their craft.  Companies are created based on age and other factors.  Placement is determined by Mr. Ken after auditions are complete.

  • Kid Company (Mostly Elementary: 2 hours per week) Sunday early afternoons: 11:30-1 at AWP.
  • Tween Company (Mostly Middle School: 3 hours per week) Sunday afternoons: 1-4 at AWP.
  • Teen Company (Mostly High School: 3 hours per week) Sunday afternoons: 4:30-7:30 at AWP.
  • Adult Company (Ages 18+: 3 hours per week) Mondays 11-2 at AWP.

Acceptance into the CSA Film Academy is by audition only.  Auditions are by appointment.

Please be ready to provide your/the actor’s name, age & contact info.  If you/they have them, please also submit your/their headshot, resume, website,  and agency.  Each actor will need to prepare a 1-2 minute monologue for their audition piece.  Each actor will also be given a scene to perform as a cold read.  Please arrive 15 minutes early to your scheduled audition time with 2 headshots and resumes.

A referral letter from your/their agent and/or performing arts instructor (acting preferred) is recommended.

If you have any questions, want to request an application, or want to set up an audition time, for the 2017-2018 CSA Film Academy, please use the form below to contact us.

Hundreds of individuals apply, and CSA Film Academy will select only 15 actors to be mentored in each company.

Once you graduate from Film Academy, you qualify to go on the LA Trip

Graduates can also opt to join the Professional Company aka the Pro-Co; an on-going class comprised of a dedicated team of actors that meets once a week for 2 hours per week to work on auditions received and work on-camera while strengthening their acting foundation.

Master Instructor Ken Feinberg refers to his system as “the buffet.” In the 10-month (31 session) Film Academy, Mr. Ken “serves up” a lot of thingsfor actors to try, including:

  • the emotional guidance system and how to use it,
  • many elements of script breakdown and character creation,
  • audition prep,
  • audition do’s and don’ts,
  • individual personal development,
  • getting out of your own way,
  • on camera audition,
  • in the room audition,
  • elements of self taping,
  • effective callbacks,
  • the different kinds of commercials and how to prep and perform for them,
  • performance on camera,
  • improv for film,
  • tv sitcom and how to make funny,
  • marketing strategies,
  • the business side of acting,
  • knowledge of the film industry and how to use it,
  • on set performance and more.

The program ends with a professionally crewed film production; allowing the actors an opportunity to put into practice all they have learned. Being exposed to a working production set allows the actors an experience to arrive on a job; ready to act; in a way that just isn’t possible in a classroom setting. The experience also provides the actors with a professional quality sample of their acting work for resumes and auditions, and, hopefully, will garner them an IMDB credit.

The graduation ceremony is a Hollywood style movie premiere which gives the actors a red carpet experience. The graduates don tuxedos and elegant gowns. They arrive in style to the premiere in shiny black limousines where they walk the red carpet; smiling for the cameras; before entering the premiere.
