Screenwriting Classes

Instructor: Ken Feinberg
Dates:
Beginning April 27th
Time: 7 PM to 10 PM

Investment: $200 per Session

"We just finished casting my film, Bane of Matthias. It’s hard to believe it has only been about 7 months since completing the first draft. I owe it all to your screenwriting class! As a first time screenwriter I can’t express how thrilling it was to hear my words spoken for the first time at the table read at the end of your course. What a great incentive to complete a script. Had I not taken the class, I don’t know if I would have finished the screenplay. Your class helped me understand the creative process, which made it easier to complete the screenplay. Additionally, the class helped me understand how to protect, market and sell my script. Thanks again for all your support. Look for your name and studio in the screen credits!" -- Ken Zirkman

Session 1: Beginning Screenwriting (4 weeks)

What is Storytelling? Where did it originate? Brief history of film/TV. What is a Hollywood movie? What is a screenplay? Screenplay structure and format. Defining your movie. Log lines. The metric movie script.

What is a rewrite? Why your first draft is not a screenplay until you've done at least one rewrite. First drafts, rewrites, and polishes. Scene length. Notes - how to use them, what to use.

Session 3: Pitching and Selling (4 weeks)  Post Script Possibilities

Who buys scripts? Who's opinion counts? WGA info. How do I sell it and to whom? Hollywood contacts? What happens after I sell it? Letting my child/script go. How scripts get changed. Star power. Same script/many versions. The real role of the screenwriter.
